Open Days at the new Rega helicopter base in Ticino

If you grew up in Switzerland, you know the REGA is one of this country's institutions. Rega provides emergency medical assistance by air. It comes to the aid of people in distress, providing swift, professional medical assistance by air. In order to do this, it employs state-of-the-art operating resources, such as helicopters and air-ambulances. Rega’s workforce comprises qualified, experienced staff. It is a privately run, non-profit foundation, which operates independently of the State or of financial interests.

After a construction period of almost one and a half years, Rega is opening the doors of its new Ticino helicopter base to the public on April 20th & 21st, 2013 from 10.00am to 5.00pm. Come and have a look round the new modern building, admire their helicopter fleet and have a go in the flight simulator. Awaiting the youngest Rega fans is their highly popular bouncy helicopter.

If you have three minutes why don't you accompany a Rega paramedic on a mission? In this video, you can accompany Ruedi Güttinger, paramedic at the Rega base in St. Gallen, on a wintertime mission. He helps the emergency doctor to recover and attend to the casualties, supports the pilot during the flight and checks the helicopter. The paramedic is the all-rounder among Rega's three-strong helicopter rescue crew.

They are looking forward to your visit!
