With the 1st of Advent last Sunday the Christmas season has offically started. I love Christmas. I love the spirit, the snow, the decorations, the Christmas carols, the Christmas crackers, plain every thing that comes with this time of year.
Therefore, please bear with me if the month of December will be filled with Christmas posts. From recipes to Father Christmas reindeers’ names.
Expat daughter woke up this morning declaring this was her favourite night of the year. The night before December 1st Father Christmas comes to our house to pick up the childrens’ wish list along with the crackers, water and carrots that we leave infront the fireplace for him. On the same occasion he fills up the kids’ advent calendars with 24 little gifts or sweets and promises to come back on Christmas Eve with presents IF everybody is good.
Last night we added a new touch to our little ceremony. In order for Santa to find our house easier we sprinkled the lawn with Magical Reindeer food.
Magic Reindeer Food Recipe:
- 1/4 cup dry oats
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- handful of green sugar sprinkles
You can add this poem to the outside of the bag or jar:
Make a wish and close your eyes tight,
Then sprinkle on your lawn at night.
As Santa's reindeer fly and roam,
This food will guide them to your home.
For your gift to the reindeer, and Rudolph, too,
Your wish may be real,
your dreams may come true!
Then sprinkle on your lawn at night.
As Santa's reindeer fly and roam,
This food will guide them to your home.
For your gift to the reindeer, and Rudolph, too,
Your wish may be real,
your dreams may come true!
